Today, Sunny Bunny Celebrates 15 YEARS!!

In numerology, 15 reduces to the number 6, which carries a warm, nurturing, harmonious energy. And honestly, that feels like no coincidence. I’ve very intentionally worked to create that kind of space—not only for our clients, but for our team.
What started as Alainn in a bare-bones, 400-square-foot space slowly began to develop a whole lot more personality—as I experimented, grew, learned, and, yes, failed miserably at building a team, lol.
Then I spent seven years working on my own, which ended up benefiting me greatly during the pandemic. During that time, I started leaning more into holistic practices, self-care, and who I was outside of the chair. The salon began changing right along with me.
Two years ago, I found my dream space, and I knew it was time for a full rebrand—including a new name honoring my grandfathers, Sonny and Bunny. And Sunny Bunny was born. I joined Destroy the Hairdresser because I knew I needed to do things differently. And holy shit, did I. I truly cannot imagine running my business any other way now. The systems and structure I’ve created have quite literally saved my business.
This past year has been one of the hardest of my life because of my health. But because of those systems, Sunny Bunny was able to keep running even when I couldn’t.
And somehow, after all those early attempts at building a team, I now have the team I always dreamed of: my unicorn Helen and our hair sculptor Jett. Fifteen years in, and somehow it still feels like we’re only getting started.
To every client who has sat in my chair, walked through our doors, referred a friend, cheered us on, or supported us from afar—past, present, and future—thank you. Thank you for supporting a single-woman-owned small business and allowing us to keep doing things a little differently. And, of course, for helping us give one tiny middle finger to the patriarchy along the way.
Here’s to 15 years of evolution, reinvention, really good hair, and refusing to do things just because “that’s how salons have always done it.”
I cannot WAIT to see what comes next.
Xoxo, Meghan
